GDX Executive Director Ratna Omidvar presented at the “Migrants and Cities” event on December 11, 2015, co-organized by the International Organization for Migration (IOM) and the Permanent Missions of Ecuador and Germany to the United Nations. This event highlighted that more than half of the world’s population now resides in urban areas, and cities are increasingly attracting people in search of a better life, more employment opportunities and better services.

This was a follow-up to IOM’s High Level Conference on Migrants & Cities held as part of its International Dialogue on Migration in Geneva in October 2015, and also presented the New York launch of IOM’s publication World Migration Report 2015 – Migrants and Cities: New Partnerships to Manage Urban Mobility.
